Goa Former CM Digambar Kamat strikes Jantar Mantar and accuses Ruling for Mhadei issue

New Delhi (15/12/2019): Leader of opposition at the Goa State Assembly, Digambar Kamat, called on Governor Satya Pal Malik in New Delhi to know about the assurance given to him by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Mhadei issue.

Kamat in a statement issued that Governor Malik informed both the leaders that the Prime Minister had given him a categorical assurance to resolve the Mhadei issue.

Kamat while speaking to Ten News said, “He (Governor) also informed us that he is very much sympathetic about the sentiments of Goans on Mhadei issue and has briefed the Prime Minister on the same. He further assured us that a decision is expected in a couple of days on Mhadei.”

He had taken up before the Prime Minister the issue of Mhadei water dispute, in particular, the environmental clearance given for the Kalasa-Banduri water project of Karnataka by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). Both the Congress leaders also raised the issue of 15th Finance Commission, and urged the Governor to ensure that Goa’s interest is protected.

Kamat claimed that Governor also agreed to take up the issue of non-representation of Goa government on 15th Finance Commission, and promised to take up the matter with concerned officials.
