National News (13/07/2026): The domestic bullion market opened the week on a weak note, with both gold and silver futures witnessing a significant decline on Monday. Prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) fell sharply during early trading, reflecting bearish sentiment driven by global market developments and increased selling pressure.

Silver recorded the steepest decline, dropping by more than ₹5,000 per kilogram during the trading session. Following the fall, silver futures slipped to nearly ₹2.17 lakh per kilogram, marking one of the sharpest single-day corrections in recent weeks. The precious metal has been under sustained pressure throughout July, with prices falling by over ₹13,000 per kilogram in the first 13 days of the month.

Gold prices also remained under pressure as the week commenced. Gold futures on MCX declined to around ₹1.41 lakh per 10 grams, extending the recent downward trend. The persistent weakness in bullion prices has impacted trading activity in the domestic jewellery and bullion markets, with dealers and investors closely monitoring price movements before making fresh positions.

According to market analysts, the decline in precious metals is largely influenced by international factors, including fluctuations in global bullion markets, a stronger US dollar, and changing investor sentiment. The strengthening of the dollar has reduced the appeal of gold and silver as alternative investment assets, while profit-booking and cautious trading have further weighed on prices.

Experts believe that the direction of bullion prices in the coming days will largely depend on upcoming global economic data, inflation trends, and policy decisions by major central banks. Investors are expected to remain cautious as they assess international market signals that could determine the next phase of movement in gold and silver prices.
