#Gold billets worth Rs 25 lakh seized from air passenger

Coimbatore (TN), Jul 31 (PTI) Gold billets worth Rs 25 lakh were today seized from a Kerala-bound passenger, who arrived at the city airport from Sharjah, police said.

Police said immigration sleuths searched all the passengers of the Air Arabia flight on a tip-off.

Salman Paris, of Kozhikode district in Kerala, was found moving suspiciously following which he was searched by the officials who found eight billets, weighing about 930 grams, hidden in his rectum, police said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he had gone to Sharjah in search of a job, but returned after he failed to find one and decided to smuggle gold to make quick money, they said.

He has been taken into custody for questioning, police said.
