New Delhi (India), 22nd April 2023: Bard, a conversational AI chatbot developed by Google, can now assist programmers with coding and software development chores.

According to reports, Bard is capable of performing duties including code production, debugging, and code explanation.

In a blog post announcing the update, Google Research Group Product Manager Paige Bailey stated, “As a product lead in Google Research—and a passionate engineer who still programmes every day—I’m excited that today we’re updating Bard to include that capability.”

More than 20 programming languages, including C++, Go, Java, Javascript, Python, and Typescript, are now supported by Google’s Bard. Elaborating Bailey continued, “And you can export Python code to Google Colab easily — no copy-and-paste required.”

The industry leader in search has disclosed that Bard can help with writing features for Google Sheets. Bard can generate code as well as explain code snippets, which is useful for those beginning to code.

Along with this, Bard can assist users in debugging code, including Bard-written code. The command “this code didn’t work, please fix it” can be used to instruct the AI chatbot in Bard to correct any error messages or code that doesn’t work as planned for users.

Bailey, however, emphasised that Bard is still a “early experiment” and might yield false results. “When it comes to coding, Bard may give you functional code that doesn’t yield the desired results, or give you insufficient or subpar code.”

Before depending on code, Bailey advised users to properly test it for flaws, faults, and security holes. She also advised users to double-check Bard’s responses.
