CII and Government of Uttar Pradesh signs MoUs
The focus of our Government is to create an enabling environment to attract investments and generate employment opportunities for youths in the state, said Shri Yogi Adityanath, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in an exclusive interaction with members of CII National Council at Lucknow today. The thrust is to improve the investment climate and improve Ease of Doing Business, he added.

Towards Ease of Doing Business, we are committed to put in place an effective Single Window System. In this regard, the Government of UP is setting up an online Portal, which will be monitored by the CM office. Labor reform is another area, where the Government of UP is proactively working and has amended several provisions of labor laws, which are now under consideration of Government of India. With these initiatives, I am confident that the ranking of UP will greatly improve on the ease of doing business, the Hon’ble Chief Minister elaborated.

We recently announced the new Investment & Employment Promotion Policy of Uttar Pradesh 2017, which contains some of the best practices & incentives followed in other states. The prime objective of the policy is equitable growth in the state and hence we have provided special incentives to Bundelkhand and Purvanchal districts of the State which are industrially backward at the moment. We have made provisions for incentives for industries which have high potential of job creation.

Talking about some of the key decision pertaining to improving the infrastructure and connectivity in the state, Hon’ble CM briefed the industry leaders about initiating the Poorvanchal and Bundelkhand Expressways, which will improve the connectivity of these regions with rest of country. To boost air connectivity of the state , Government of Uttar Pradesh is coming up with New Aviation Policy. Government is also committed to introduce Metro Rail system in 6 additional cities other than Lucknow which will start operating from 5th September.

During the discussion, Hon’ble CM assured the visiting captains of industry that the safety and security of their interests will be the top most priority of the State. We are setting up integrated Police & Fire Posts in key industrial areas. On the occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister urged the industry to partner in transforming the identified 7 cities into smart cities with their expertise, technologies and innovation.

Earlier addressing on this occasion, Ms Shobana Kamineni, President, CII said, “the destiny of 22 crore Indians residing in the state is in your capable hands and UP being the largest state, the progress of UP will determine the progress of the country. According to our calculations if UP picks up to grow 50 per cent faster, India will pick up to add 1.5 percentage points to its growth rate calculated at current prices. The state has much to offer to our country through its rich fields, its vibrant manufacturing hubs, and its dynamic services such as tourism, higher education and others, she added.

Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII assured CII‘s full support to the government in every possible way in realizing the vision of making UP a “Uttam Pradesh”. He further added that CII is committed to work towards making UP a vibrant hub entrepreneurship thereby turning job seekers into job creators.

In the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister, CII and Government of Uttar Pradesh signed three MoUs. These MoUs pertains to launch of a rural sanitation initiative to build individual household toilets in the villages; providing adequate classroom furniture for students in select districts of Uttar Pradesh; and developing a world class Driver Training & Multi Skill Institute.

During this exclusive interaction, Shri Satish Mahana, Hon’ble Minister, Infrastructure and Industrial Development and Shri Swatantra Dev Singh, Hon’ble State Minister for Transport, Shri Rajive Kumar, Chief Secretary were present along with other senior officials of Government of UP.
