New Delhi (India), 26th March 2023: According to a notification released by the Department of Food and Public Distribution, the Centre Government has extended the limit for tying Aadhaar to Ration cards from March 31, 2023, to June 30, 2023.

All families are given ration cards so they can purchase subsidised food grains and fuel from the Public Distribution System( PDS). The ration card also functions as identification and location verification, in addition to documents like a passport and a PAN card.

However, there have been instances where someone received more rations than was equitable or where people who weren’t entitled to them received them and make bogus cards, depriving the rightful recipients of the benefits of the scheme.

The government decided to link AADHAR with Ration card to tackle some of these problems. The government will be able to stop people from acquiring numerous ration cards by tying the Aadhaar card to the ration card.

Additionally, it is feasible to detain those who are not eligible for rations because their income is too high. Additionally, this will guarantee that only those who deserve it obtain food or fuel subsidies.

People can link the two identity cards online and offline. They would need the copy of some personal documents like AADHAR card, ration card, bank passbook and a passport sized photo for the procedure.
