Govt formation in #Delhi: Despite LG’s nod, #BJP may struggle for numbers

The home ministry on Friday backed lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung’s move to invite the single largest party to form the government in Delhi, but this did little to strengthen the prospects of formation of a representative government with the BJP struggling to work out its maths.

Sources in the home ministry indicated that it was in sync with Jung’s opinion that the BJP — the single largest party with 28 MLAs — be given a fresh chance at government formation. This view will be placed on the LG’s file forwarded by the President on Thursday night for the home ministry’s opinion.
