Govt. releases Pictures of Suspicious Loan Apps, issues Warning

New Delhi (India), 15th April 2023: The Government of India released an advisory along with an attachment of a picture displaying an image of fraud loan applications from their Twitter handle ‘CyberDost’.

The government has been repeatedly cautioning people against falling prey to fraudulent schemes of these loan apps for a while.

In their recent tweet, CyberDost a government initiative to help people with cyber fraud, tweeted, “Verify details of apps before engaging. These apps are learnt to have been hosted from hostile foreign entities. If you are a victim of cybercrime #Dial1930 & file a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in #CyberDostFactCheck#InstantLoan#LendingApps#MobileApp@RBI @GooglePlay”

The tweet also included a picture of two apps, ‘Loan Storm’ by ‘kumbhat financial services limited’ and ‘Top Loan’ by ‘Ace Money (India) Limited’.

Along with this the image featured other advisories and caution to beware of these ‘hostile foreign entities’, the image said ‘User caution is suggested’, ‘Please Verify details before engaging’ and ‘Always avail loans from RBI regulated entities’.

The Home Ministry had established a dedicated Twitter account in 2022 with the handle @CyberDost to raise people’s knowledge of cybercrimes and the common precautions they should take to prevent them.
