GR NOIDA VILLAGERS WON’T TOLERATE DISRESPECT TO RAVANA!
A day after the idol of Ravana was vandalised by unidentified people in Bisrakh Dham, Gautam Budh Nagar in Greater Noida, villagers held a panchyat on the temple premises on Wednesday and decided to install another idol of Ravana in the same temple.
A decision was taken that as planned earlier, idols of Ram Parivar and other god and goddesses will be placed in the temple on Thursday.
Meawhile, an FIR was registered against 30 people, including Mahant Narayan Giri, head priest of Dudheswar Nath Temple of Ghaziabad, for vandalising the idol of Ravana on Tuesday. Security has been tightened in the area.
“We have deployed security force in the village and there is no tension now. Police teams have been formed to arrest the accused,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmender Singh.
Police said Ashokanand Maharaj, head of Mahatma Rawana Trust and Shiv Mohan Temple trust, alleged that the Ravana idol was to be installed in the temple on August 11, but on Tuesday Mahant Narayan Giri, Mahant Krishna Giri, Satish Nagar, Harish Chandra Nagar, and Surendra Nath, Gau Raksha Dal president, barged into the temple and vandalised Ravana’s idol and ransacked the temple.
“On the complaint of temple priest, we have registered a criminal case under Section 147, 295, 504, 506 and 427 of the IPC. Arrest is yet to be made,” said Ashwani Kumar, SHO of Bisrakh police station.
“The villagers have decided to first place the idols of god and goddess in the temple on Thursday. We will place idols of Ram Parivar, Radha Krishna, god Ganesh, Mata ji Mandir and Shiv Parivar in the temple with great zeal. The villagers have also decided and agreed to place idol of Ravana. As the idol of Ravana has been destroyed, it will be placed later on,” said Acharya Ashoka Nand Maharaj.
He said Bisrakh was the birthplace of Ravana and it has been highlighted in Vedic Purna. He is worshiped in the village.
“Residents of Bisrakh believe Ravana was born in their village and demonising him would bring them misfortune. It is the desire of the local residents that a grand temple be built here and to fulfil residents’ desire, Shri Mohan Temple Yog Trust Temple has joined hands with Mahatma Rawana Temple trust to build a grand temple for Mahatma Ravana,” he said.
On Tuesday, a group of young men with saffron scarves had entered the Radha Krishna temple and had vandalised the idol of Ravana and one other deity after coming to know that the temple committee had proposed to place a brass idol of Ravana there. Speaking at a Press conference earlier in Ghaziabad, priests who had opposed the move had said Ravana is the symbol of evil and his statue would not be allowed to be installed in anywhere in west Uttar Pradesh.
