West Delhi: Cleanliness is next to God and Sanitation is more important than political freedom. Grow Up Youth Club affiliated with Nehru Yuva Kendra celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in the slums of Dwarka Sec-3 in a unique manner to draw the attention of the masses towards the appeal of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister that the people should  donate 100 hours (2 hours in a week) to make India Clean and Green. Grow Up Youth Club by organising the Best Out of Waste competition provided platform to more than 180 participants to recycle the waste materials and create one useful product out of it.

While speaking on the occasion, Major General Dilawar Singh, Director General, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chief Guest of the function draw the attention of the audience about the quotes of Mahatama Gandhi. He urged the masses that the Swaccha Bharat Abhiyaan should be organized with the participation of all sections of society to bring about mass awareness and a lasting behavioural change to achieve this goal. He praised the efforts of the Grow Up Youth Club in organizing the event in the slums.

During the competition old and unused furniture/ fixtures/ stationary, including electrical and electronic equipments were used by the participants to make a creative product. A variety of activities like Dance, Music, Poems and Speeches were performed by the children.

Shri Gaurav Singh Raghav, District Youth Coordinator, Shri Birender Boken, Zonal Coordinator, and Sh. Surender Boken were also present during the event and encouraged the participants with their inspiring words. Club’s President Akshay Tyagi also motivated the people and affirmed that the club will keep doing good work and do every possible effort in making the society clean, green and healthy as well. \.

The competition ended on the note that we all should come together to make a better tomorrow.
