Breaking: Gun Fires Accidentally During Weapon Check at Varanasi Airport, 2 Injured

Varanasi (16/08/2026): Two AAICLAS security screeners were injured after a round was accidentally fired from a licensed pistol during the screening of a passenger’s weapon at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi on Sunday morning. The passenger, identified as Kamlesh Rai from Azamgarh, was travelling to Mumbai with his wife on an Air India Express flight.

The injured officials, identified as Suman Kumari and Rohit Raj, were rushed to a trauma centre and are reported to be in stable condition. Police have detained the passenger for questioning, while multiple agencies are investigating the incident.
