New Delhi, February 2: Gyms in Delhi have remained shut since December last year, when in view of the COVID-19 surge, ‘Yellow Alert’ was implemented in the national capital.

The continuous closure of gyms has been resulting in losses for the gym owners.

Speaking to NDTV, Delhi Gym Association Vice president Chirag Sethi said, “1 lakh people are directly employed by the gyms. Nearly 5 lakh families are indirectly linked to the gym industry. We have given our memorandum after the protest & have also written numerous letters to the L-G as well as the CM but got no response.”

The Delhi Gym Association has been protesting across the Nation demanding the reopening of the fitness industry.

On January 29, Hundreds of gym owners took out a protest march to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to oppose the DDMA’s decision to keep fitness centres closed even as the number of Covid cases have come down in the city.
