HCLTech Partners with WACKER to Set Up New Global Capability Center in Pune

National News (29 August 2026): Global specialty chemicals and biotechnology company WACKER Chemie AG has established a new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Pune, Maharashtra, in collaboration with HCLTech, marking a significant step in strengthening its engineering, IT and digital transformation capabilities in India.
The newly established center is expected to serve as a strategic delivery hub for WACKER, providing the company with a flexible, resilient and future-ready operating platform to support its global technology and engineering requirements. The partnership builds on the existing strategic relationship between WACKER and HCLTech and is aimed at accelerating WACKER’s digital modernization while creating a scalable model for long-term growth.
According to Fabian Seibold, Director, WACKER Excellence Hub Pune, the establishment of the GCC represents an important milestone in strengthening the company’s global delivery and digital execution capabilities. He said HCLTech’s experience in establishing and scaling capability centers would help WACKER develop an operating model focused on agility, effective governance and sustainable expansion.
Dr. Frank Fehler, Executive Vice President and Country Head – Germany, HCLTech, said the expanded partnership marks an important stage in WACKER’s broader digital transformation journey. He added that HCLTech is committed to supporting the company’s long-term digital and engineering transformation as a strategic technology partner.
The GCC will be developed through a phased, customer-centric operating model, with HCLTech supporting the creation of a high-performing team and helping WACKER strengthen governance and operational efficiency.
HCLTech will also bring its expertise in DevSecOps, automation and digital engineering to the center. These capabilities are expected to help WACKER streamline operations, improve technology resilience and accelerate the modernization of its digital environment.
Kiran Cherukuri, EVP and Global GCC Practice Head, HCLTech, said the Pune center is being designed to provide WACKER with a scalable and resilient delivery foundation. He highlighted that HCLTech’s technology expertise will be used to strengthen the center’s workforce, governance framework and operational capabilities while supporting faster digital modernization.
WACKER Expands Global Technology Capabilities
WACKER is a global specialty chemicals and biotechnology company whose products are used across a wide range of industries and everyday applications, from construction materials and automotive products to electronics, semiconductors, healthcare and food-related applications. The company operates through a global network comprising 27 production sites, 22 technical competence centers and 47 sales offices. With more than 16,000 employees worldwide, WACKER recorded annual sales of approximately €5.5 billion in fiscal 2025.
The company’s operations are organized into four major business divisions: Silicones, Polymers, Biosolutions and Polysilicon.
Its Silicones and Polymers divisions manufacture products such as silicones and polymeric binders for sectors including construction, automotive, chemicals, consumer goods and medical technology. Biosolutions focuses on bioengineered products, including biopharmaceuticals and food additives, while the Polysilicon division supplies high-purity polysilicon for the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries.
HCLTech to Support GCC Growth
For HCLTech, the partnership further strengthens its role in helping global enterprises establish and scale GCC operations. The company plans to use its capabilities in AI, digital transformation, engineering, cloud, software, DevSecOps and automation to support WACKER’s evolving technology requirements.

The company reported consolidated revenue of $14.8 billion for the 12 months ending June 2026. The launch of WACKER’s Pune GCC reflects the growing importance of India as a strategic base for global technology delivery, engineering services and digital transformation, while giving WACKER a dedicated platform to support its worldwide operations and future technology initiatives.
