Heimtextil India 2016 – fair gets underway

New Delhi, June 22 (IANS) Heimtextil India 2016, an international exhibition of home furnishings organised by German trade fair organisers Messe Frankfurt, got underway here on Wednesday, on the day India’s cabinet approved a package of measures to boost the textiles sector.




The trade fair, being held from June 22-24 at the Pragati Maidan exhibition grounds, was inaugurated by Delhi’s Minister for Industries Satyendra Jain.

Over 200 companies from India, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Japan, Korea and Russia are participating with their collections in dining, living and home textile segments.

The categories on display include bedroom and bath linen, table linen, kitchen textiles, furniture fabric and textile floor coverings, among others.

Top home fashion players, including D’decor, Raymond, Reliance, Welspun, Nilkamal are showcasing the next season’s interior decor and home textile collections at Heimtextil India.

Announcing the fair earlier, Textiles Secretary Rashmi Verma said in a statement: “Although, India is actively participating in the Heimtextil Fair in Germany regularly, it would be another opportunity to the Indian textiles and clothing industry to further take the Indian textile products to new height.”
