HOME MINISTRY TO A FREE AND FAIR INQUIRY INTO THE ALLEGED SCAM IN DDCA

The renewed resistance of the Home Ministry to a free and fair inquiry into the alleged scam in DDCA at the behest of the report by Hon LG of Delhi is vindication of the fact which the whistle blower in case have been repeatedly asserting.

“It was highly apprehensive as the whistle blower had clearly stated in his submissions that union minister Shri Arun Jaitley have assured the DDCA functionaries that he can influence to stall any probable inquiry into the financial scam. The move of the Central government to oppose the free and fair inquiry to bring out the original culprits in the Cricket management in Delhi further proves the apprehension,” Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh said in a press conference here today.

Institution of a commission of inquiry is not new to Delhi, several preceding governments including the Shiela Dikshit government have done it and it is the right of the government of NCT of Delhi to do so. The unproportional opposition of the Central Government is clear evidence of the fact that someone obvious is being tried to be protected, he added.

In a case of allegation or inquiry, the normal course of action is to let the inquiry happen and wait for the investigation to be over. In this case, the central government is pre-empting the findings to protect the someone close. This is when, it was the central government which forwarded the request to the Delhi government to investigate into the allegations against the DDCA by BJP MP Kirti Azad.

The fact that the cricket body was governed by central finance minister for 13 years gives then the Union Modi government all the more reason to let the investigation happen and come clean. It is sad for democracy that this elected government of the country led by Shri Narendra Modi feels that investigation into corruption need to stalled rather than punishing the corrupt.

People of the country and particularly Delhi are watching the stand of the union government and its role in finding the real culprits of DDCA which marred the sporting spirit of Delhi and became a den of corruption with due time.
