HON’BLE UNION HOME MINISTER SHRI RAJNATH SINGH WILL DECORATETHE GALLANT OFFICER AND MEN OF BSF ON 22ND MAY DURING13THBSF INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2015

BSF will celebrate its 13th Investiture Ceremony on 22nd May 2015 at CRPF Officers’ Institute ‘Shaurya’, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.

 

  1. The founding father of BSF Shri Khusro Faramurz Rustamji (K F Rustamji), IP was born on 22nd May 1916 and died on 2nd March 2003. In remembrance of founding father, BSF traditionally celebrating Investiture Ceremony every year on 22nd May as it is the Birth date of Shri K F Rustamji, that is the reason BSF Investiture Ceremony is celebrated on 22nd May every year. This is the 99th Birth Anniversary of Shri Rustamji.

 

  1. On this occasion, Border Security Force honouring and rewarding the gallant officers and men of BSF in recognition of the sacrifices and valiant contribution made by them.

 

  1. BSF Investiture ceremony started on 22nd May 2003 and this is the 13th Investiture Ceremony.

 

  1. Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has consented to be the chief guest for the 13th BSF Investiture Ceremony and will grace the occasion.

 

  1. The Investiture Ceremony will organized on 22nd May 2015 is a mark of deep seated affection and respect for founding father of BSF, Shri K F Rustamji. BSF has been organizing the Investiture Ceremony on the birthday of Shri K F Rustamji since 2003. To complement his legacy, Rustamji Memorial Lecture was institutionalized in the year 2006. This lecture is delivered every year by eminent personalities and visionaries who dwell on issues of national security having the bearing on the BSF and its role therein. Since the inception, Rustamji’s memorial lectures have been a fascinating saga of in-depth analysis, changing dynamics and emerging national security challenges. This year Shri Ajit Kumar Doval, NSA will deliver a lecture on the subject ‘Challenges of Securing India’s Borders; Strategising the Response’. This is the 10th Rustamji memorial lecture.

 

  1. During the BSF Investiture Ceremony 2015, five (05) gallant men will be awarded with Police medal for gallantry. Out of five, one is Posthumously awarded with Police Medal for Gallantry. Consequently, one is Posthumously awarded with Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak. During the Ceremony 27 BSF Officers and men will be decorated with Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

 

  1. The 13th BSF Investiture Ceremony will be organized on 22nd May 2015 at CRPF Officers’ Institute ‘Shaurya’, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.

 

  1. During this Investiture Ceremony, a book ‘BSF Martyrs : a Legacy of Pride and Valour’ will be unveiled by the chief guest and a documentary film on ‘operation Gazi Baba and Honouring the Brave Hearts’ will also be screened.

 

  1. The Government of India honoured the gallant officers and men of BSF with medals for gallantry in recognition of their acts of valour and sacrifices in the service of the nation. The list of gallantry Medals received by Gallant Officer and Men of BSF till date from 1965, is mentioned below:-
