HNew Delhi : Human rights violations in the Baluchistan province of Pakistan has drawn concern and criticism from the international community, after being described by Human Rights Watch as having reached epidemic proportions.
Today, Francesca Marino, who is an Italian freelance journalist specialised on South Asia and writes regularly for Limes–Italian Review of geopolitics and some other Italian and Swiss media, spoke at a session about her experiences regarding Human Rights Violation in Baluchistan.
Francesca is also a photographer and her photo reportages had been published in international magazines like Geo.
According to Fransesca,
estimated number of people disappeared in Baluchistan are between hundreds and several thousands. International Voice for Baluch Missing Persons claims that 18,000 Baluch were missing by 2014, of whom more than 2,000 were killed.
Alok Bansal, a naval officer with 26 years of commissioned service and has also participated in the Indian Peacekeeping Operations in Sri Lanka, also talked about the issue.
According to Alok, Baluchistan is the only place in Pakistan where human rights issues are increasing day by day whereas Pakistan when seen as a country, consists of very little Human Right Violation issues.
Bansal has commanded two warships and has been a Directing Staff at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington for three years.
Many of the educational personalities working in Delhi and rest of India attended the session and discussed measures that should be taken so as to work for the welfare of Baluchistan.
