Delhi, Sept 11th, 2022: World’s biggest dairy conference, World Dairy Summit 2022 will be held at India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida from 12th to 15th September, 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating it on Monday, Sept 12th.

Led by the International Dairy Federation(IDF), the Summit aims to unite global and Indian dairy stakeholders including industry leaders, experts, farmers, and policy planners centering around the theme of ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’.

In conversation with Ten News, the Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Meenesh Shah, outlined the importance of WDS being held after 48 years.

Shah said that after the pandemic, India is organizing the world dairy summit for the very first time. “This is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase the small-business dairy farmers and contribute to their development on a global platform”, he said.

He further added that India is the largest producer of milk in the world due to our unique animal farming systems.

Highlighting the progress of our nation, Shah said that India has been growing rapidly at a rate of 6% CAGR(compound annual growth rate) since 2014.

“I can proudly say that our country has become Atmanirbhar in terms of dairy products, especially milk”, he said.

He noted that the summit would provide export and business opportunities to local and foreign dairy processors and dealers.

When asked about the trends in consumer patterns in the dairy industry, Shah replied that consumers themselves are switching over to hygienic and healthy milk products.

“The summit is also a great opportunity for the consumers to find better and sustainable quality products and learn about the new technology”, he said.

Talking about inflation in the dairy industry, Shah said that all the farmers and manufacturers look towards the Kharif season for better agriculture opportunities that would help to reduce the prices of production.
