IIM Ahmedabad’s leadership-building focus made it natural partner for new Leadership Academy: Paridhi Adani

Ahmedabad, Aug 10 (IANS) IIM Ahmedabad’s track record of institution-building and developing leaders across the country made it a natural partner for Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas in setting up the Cyril Shroff-IIMA GC Leadership Academy, Paridhi Adani, Partner and Head-Gujarat at the prestigious law firm, said on Monday.

Paridhi Adani said the collaboration was particularly valuable because IIM Ahmedabad had explored the broader role of law and lawyers in the economy and enterprise, going beyond conventional legal education.

”So I think the choice for IIM Ahmedabad was a natural one. It’s an institute that stands so much for institutional building, for developing so many leaders of this country and we were amazed at how openly they accepted the idea,” she told IANS.

Paridhi Adani said the institute’s director and professors had contributed their time, energy, effort and vision to the initiative over the past few months.

“The director and the professors with whom we’ve been collaborating over the last few months have given their time, energy, effort and vision true to this initiative,” Paridhi Adani mentioned.

According to her, the academy will focus on areas that legal professionals may not routinely encounter in law school or traditional legal practice, including the intersection of policy and technology, human behaviour and other principles relevant to businesses and the wider economy.

Meanwhile, Cyril Shroff, managing partner of law company Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-Ahmedabad), have jointly set up the Cyril Shroff-IIMA GC Leadership Academy, an initiative aimed at preparing general counsels for the modern era who are required to take on new roles that go beyond traditional legal advisory functions to cover various managerial aspects of modern enterprises.

Shroff said that the academy aims to create a globally relevant platform to prepare future legal leaders with judgement, capability and purpose as the role of the General Counsel has moved from legal advisory to enterprise leadership.

The academy has been established through a personal philanthropic commitment by Cyril Shroff and the Shroff family, according to the statement.
