Inclusive Christmas Gathering Marks Unity Amongst Parliamentarians in Delhi

19th December, New Delhi: On the evening of December 18, 2023, a unique assembly of Parliamentarians from diverse political backgrounds and religious affiliations took place in New Delhi. Organized by the Christian MPs Forum, the event aimed to foster unity and celebrate the spirit of Christmas. The gathering, presided over by Forum President Mr. Francisco Sardinha, former Chief Minister of Goa, was coordinated by Rajya Sabha MP P. Wilson and hosted by Ms. Agatha Sangma, MP.

Addressing the audience during the Christmas program, Farooq Abdullah emphasized the inclusive nature of the nation, irrespective of religion, caste, or language. He urged everyone to embrace love, share with each other, and highlighted the importance of survival and progress for a nation. Abdullah also shared a poignant message on the human toll of wars, stressing the need for peace and harmony to move forward collectively.

Reflecting on environmental concerns, Abdullah expressed shock at the pollution levels in Hyderabad, emphasizing the shared responsibility to save mankind from adverse conditions. He called for a collective effort to remove ego and transition from “I” to “we” for the greater good.

Rajya Sabha MP P. Wilson conveyed the Christmas message from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, urging a commitment to governance principles that safeguard the rights and welfare of minorities. He emphasized the strength of India’s diverse society and the need to ensure every voice is heard and respected.

Wishing joy and happiness for Christmas, Wilson encouraged participants to celebrate achievements, learn from failures, and explore new possibilities. The gathering, which included representatives from Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist, and other communities, stood as an emblem of a secular India.

Participants joined in prayer, seeking relief from the country’s challenges and promoting justice, peace, harmony, brotherhood, and joy. The auditorium resonated with festive cheer as carols filled the air, bringing a sense of unity and positivity.

Described as a prayerful initiative, the event aimed to celebrate Christmas with Parliament members, civil servants, Christian leaders, and professionals. The overarching goal was to envision a blessed and prosperous nation where peace and goodwill prevail, justice and liberty are upheld, and God is honored. The event concluded with a shared aspiration for a nation built on the principles of justice, equality, and fraternity.

Union MoS Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh , Union MoS Rameshwar Teli , MPs Rajdeep Roy, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Muhammad Sadiq , Amar Singh, Dr Lorho Pfoz , Tiruchi N. Siva, Preneet Kaur, Simranjit Singh Mann, Kunwar Danish Ali and others graced the majestic and holistic Christmas celebrations. Pastor Jayseelan offered the prayers for the Nation. At the end Rev Fr Maria Antony , RYD, Archdiocese of Delhi also blessed the elite gatherings .
