India issues revised guidelines for International travellers; guidelines to come in effect from 14 February

February 10, New Delhi: On Thursday, the Union Ministry of health and family welfare revised COVID-19 guidelines for International passengers arriving in India from February 14.

The fresh guidelines by the health ministry recommends 14 days of self-monitoring post-arrival as against a seven-day home quarantine which was mandated earlier.

“All travellers will self-monitor their health for next 14 days of arrival. If travellers under self-health monitoring develop signs & symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, they will immediately self-isolate and report to their nearest health facility or call National helpline number(1075)/ State helpline number,” said the Ministry.

Further “Besides uploading negative RT-PCR report (taken 72 hrs prior to journey), option to upload certificate of completing full primary vaccination schedule of COVID-19 vaccination provided from selected 82 countries on a reciprocal basis.”

The government has also removed the ‘At risk’ marking for various countries with high omicron caseloads.

Two per cent of the total passengers in the flight from all countries on arrival at the airport will undergo random sampling; such travellers in each flight will be identified by the concerned airlines & will submit the samples & shall be allowed to leave the airport.

If such travellers test positive, the samples will be further sent for genomic testing & the positive individuals will be treated as per laid down standard protocol.

Children below the age of 5 are exempted from pre and post-arrival testing. However, if found symptomatic for Covid on arrival or during the self-monitoring period, they shall undergo testing and treatment as per protocol, the ministry said.

The guidelines will be followed by all airlines and at all points of entry including airports, seaports & land ports.
