New Delhi (India), April 4, 2023: The Delhi police’s special cell team, in collaboration with Mexican law enforcement agencies, has apprehended one of Delhi’s most wanted gangsters, Deepak Boxer, in Mexico.

Boxer, who had been heading Jitender Gogi’s gang, fled India on a passport prepared under a different identity after Gogi was shot dead inside a courtroom in Delhi’s Rohini court complex in September 2021. He carried a reward of Rs. 3 lakh on his arrest.

The special cell team, along with Interpol, had confirmed Boxer’s presence in Mexico and tracked his location, identifying his hideouts. The team provided input to the Mexican agencies, leading to Boxer’s arrest.

Another team of at least five special cell sleuths has been dispatched to Mexico to complete legal formalities and obtain Boxer’s custody so that he can be brought back to Delhi to face Indian law enforcement agencies.

This is the first time that a Delhi police team has collaborated with a foreign law enforcement agency on their soil to arrest a fugitive wanted in India. Boxer was allegedly involved in planning and executing the killings of his rivals to avenge Gogi’s killing and had claimed responsibility for the murder of builder-turned-hotelier Amit Gupta in 2022.
