Indian Handicrafts exporters trade with buyers of Latin American & Caribbean Countries in EPCH buyer seller meet

New Delhi – 1st April’ 2021 – Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) in association with Indian Embassies in Latin American & Caribbean Countries (LAC Region) organized the virtual buyer seller meet of Indian Handicrafts Manufacturers & Exporters with buyers of Latin American & Caribbean Countries (LAC Region) from 23rd – 31st March, 2021 where 91 exporters from all parts of India displayed the wide range of handicraft products, said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.

This virtual buyer seller meet (BSM) was attended by 328 buyers from Latin American & Caribbean Countries (LAC Region) including Chile, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela and other countries. Around 38 buying agencies also visited the BSM to source the requirements on behalf of their overseas buyers.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar informed that Buyer Seller Meet was successfully organized on virtual platform with active support received from Shantmanu, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Anita Nayar, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Chile, Mahender Singh Kanyal, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Suriname, Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Brazil, Dinesh Bhatia, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Argentina, Sanjiv Ranjan, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Colombia, Mandarapu Subbarayudu, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Peru, Arun Kumar Sahu, High Commissioner, High Commission of India in Trinidad and Tobago, Upender Singh Rawat, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Panama, R. Masakui, High Commissioner, High Commission of India in Jamaica, B. S. Mubarak, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Guatemala, Abhishek Singh, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Venezuela, Madhu Sethi, Ambassador, Embassy of India in Cuba and Amit Kumar Mishra, Consul General, Consulate General of India in Sao Paulo, Brazil reflecting the indomitable spirit of the handicraft exporting fraternity to continue furthering the efforts to strengthen the Handicrafts Sector.

Ravi K. Passi, Chairman-EPCH informed that this virtual BSM has facilitated Indian companies with matchmaking opportunities with the Latin American & Caribbean buyers interested in sourcing Handicrafts, Gifts, Furniture, Fashion, Lifestyle products thereby creating a ‘Brand Image’ of Indian Handicrafts amongst buyers of LAC Region & Caribbean Countries.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar said that this virtual BSM has provided a viable marketing option to the exhibitors and buyers and will lead to a growth in Indo-LAC region Trade.

The Handicrafts exports during the year 2019-20 was Rs. 25,270.14 crores and during eleven months i.e. April-February’ 2020-21 is Rs. 22,774.58 crores and USD 3062.76 Million, informed Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.
