The Indian logistics sector is on the cusp of a revolution as significant developments are underway in the Indian economy. Implementation of GST aided by the government initiatives in sectors such as roads, railways, airports, sea ports, coastal shipping and inland waterways is likely to transform the logistics value chain, primarily by reducing the logistics cost in the long run, a long standing expectation from the trade, said Union Minister for Shipping, Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari during the conference on ‘Logistics Revolution’ organised by ASSOCHAM India in New Delhi on Thursday.

Talking about the theme of conference, he said, this conference will provide a platform for the industry captains and policy makers to deliberate on key issues facing the sector and take appropriate corrective measures.

The challenges termed as nightmares are easing out for logistics operators in India, after GST claimed Nitin Gadkari. In the past few years, one of the major improvements India witnessed in the logistics industry is technologically driven workforce, he added.
