According to IPPCI Vice President Mrs. Kenu Agarwal and Ms. Santosh Suryavanshi all our religions, communities and societies have inspired us towards donation. People associated with different religions have been participating in donations of different kinds. All the religions have specified three donations and ‘MAHADAAN’, they are Blood Donation, Eye Donation and Organ Donation. Blood can be donation during one’s lifetime and other two donations are done with the will of the person after his/her death by their family members. Media professional are also the integral part of society. We fulfill our duty towards the society with our pens and cameras at the same time we are also giving an important contribution to the society and our community by participating in ‘MAHADAAN CAMPAIGN’. We are giving detailed information about how to participate in this ‘MAHADAAN CAMPAIGN’.
According to IPPCI Secretary Mr. Manu Sharma, in India there are around 11 lakh blind people who can get their eyesight back through Eye Donation. Out of these, around 25 thousand are registered in different centers to receive Cornea. According to doctors, people below the age of 60 years can donate their eyes, even if they are using spectacles or have been operated for eyes can donate eyes. Eyes must be removed from within 6 hours after the death of the person. It takes only 10 to 15 minutes to remove eyes. The information of the death of the Eye Donor can give to any Eye Bank or representative of our organisation. Doctors of the Eye Bank go to the house or hospital of the donor and remove eye without any expenses. Two people can see from the eye donated by one person. Eyes cannot be sold. This is a kind of complete donation.
According to IPPCI Senior Vice President Mr. Shivender and Treasurer Mr. Naresh Gupta, there is a need of 5 lakh unit of blood every year in Delhi, there is a big difference between demand and supply of blood. The only way to fill this gap is that every person considers blood donation his/ her moral duty. If we are healthy and weight is more than 45 kgs and age is between 18 years and 60 years, we can donate blood. Blood donation does not have any side affect on the body. We can start our daily routine immediately after donating our blood. The blood donated by us is recovered in 48 hours. After three months we can again donate blood. Donating blood only takes 15 to 20 minutes. The instruments used for donating blood are not used again. Our little time can save someone’s life. Come and join this great campaign.
Taking pledge to donate organs is an invaluable gift. Only a person whose mind has stopped working can donate organs. In medical science it is called brain death. Due to brain death the mind stops working but our body parts get oxygen. Donor’s heart, lungs, kidney and lever can be taken as donation. A team of doctors decide which part of the body can be taken as donation. Organ donation is possible only in hospital. In Delhi organ transplantation is possible only in All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
