Bengaluru (India), 05/08/23: Richard Lobo, Executive Vice President and former Head of Human Resources at Infosys, has resigned, the latest in a string of high-level departures. Lobo was assigned to a special projects team under Parekh after Sushanth Tharappan was named HR director last month.

Infosys informed exchanges late on August 4, “This is to inform that Richard Lobo, Executive Vice President and Senior Management Personnel, has resigned from the services of the Company. His last date with the company would be August 31, 2023. The Company places on record its deep sense of appreciation for the services rendered by him and for his contributions to the company.”

Lobo noted in his resignation letter to Chief Executive Officer Salil Parekh, “I’m writing to inform you of my decision to resign from my position at Infosys. I’m grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had during my time here.”

Lobo is an Infosys veteran who served as the company’s head of HR from 2015 until 2023.

Lobo also joined Infosys in 2000 and oversaw human resources for various industrial practises. He graduated from Xavier’s Institute of Management and Manipal Institute of Technology as a mechanical engineer.

Tharappan’s appointment as head of HR marked the company’s second change in the HR function this year. Following Krish Shankar’s resignation in March, Shaji Mathew took over as worldwide head of HR.

Lobo’s departure also comes at a time when several members of Infosys’ top management have left the company, many of whom have gone on to become CEOs of other rival companies.

The departures of two presidents, Mohit Joshi and Ravi Kumar S, both of whom were future CEO contenders who resigned from the company within a six-month period, are well-documented. Both have gone on to become CEOs of Infosys’ competitors: Ravi Kumar S of Cognizant and Mohit Joshi of Tech Mahindra.

The most recent departure is that of Global Head of Account Expansion Charles Salameh, who will take over as CEO of Sangoma Technologies Corporation on September 1.

Vishal Salvi, Infosys’ Global Chief Information Security Officer and Business Head, left the business in July to become CEO of cybersecurity firm Quick Heal. After 22 years with Infosys, Narsimha Rao Mannepalli, EVP & Co-Head of Delivery & Head of Cloud, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity, retired in June.

Gopikrishnan Konnath, SVP and Global Head of Engineering Services and Blockchain, left the firm in March to become President of Cybage Software, and EVP Global Head of Sales and Enterprise Capability at Infosys BPM, Kapil Jain left in April and became CEO of eClerx in May. Both Konnath and Jain were Infosys veterans, having worked there for 28 and 22 years, respectively.

When queried about top-level exits at the company following the presentation of its results for the first quarter of FY24, CEO Parekh stated that the company has implemented a new leadership structure.
