The only shooting range available in Faridabad at Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MRIE) has been upgraded on Saturday May 23rd. Earlier the range was equipped with 8 manual targets but now these manual one have been upgraded to electronic targets. This would allow the trainees to practice with more accuracy and confirming to international standards. The facility was inaugurated by Jaspal Rana, the legendary shooter, who is an inspiration for the shooters of the country. Dr Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI, and Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI were also present on the occasion. Rana, a gold medalist at several international events, was awarded with Arjun Award, the second highest award for achievement in sport by the Indian Government at an age of eighteen and by twenty one he became Padamshree. Speaking on the occasion Jaspal Rana said, “With the right kind of shooting facilities and guidance, the day is not far when we can look forward to more such shooting stalwarts like Abhinav Bindra, Gagan Narang and Vijay Kumar. Let us give the youngsters a chance to come up and they will do wonders. If China as a nation could do it, why can’t we in India have more such players in the offing?”

Appreciating the upgrading of the facility he said, “The Institute has been upgrading its existing facilities to match the global standards. In this series the manual shooting targets were replaced by the electronic ones in its 10 meter shooting range.  MRIE has gone out of the way to make a difference to this Shooting Range.” Rana said that it was on his suggestion that the management opted for SIUS Ascor Electronic Targets be installed, which, he said, must have cost the institute a few lacs.”
