JDS preps for Kingmaker role in Karnataka, confirms approach from BJP, Congress

Bengaluru, 12th May 2023: Ex-Karnataka CM and the Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy announced that his party is not opposed to a post-poll alliance with either the Congress or the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, offering each potential lifelines ahead of Saturday’s counting of votes.
With the results of the state Assembly elections scheduled to be out tomorrow, the fate of the state is being questioned. Exit surveys predicted a hung Assembly; some gave Congress an advantage, but not enough to establish an independent claim to the next government.
While Kumaraswamy left for Singapore earlier today, a senior member of the Janata Dal, Tanveer Ahmed, confirmed that a decision regarding the post-poll alliance had been taken and it would be announced to the public at the right time.
