Jilted 45-Year-Old-Woman Throws Acid on 28-Year-Old Doctor
A 45-year-old woman allegedly in love with a 28-year-old veterinary doctor threw four litres of acid on the lover after he rejected her advances. The jilted lover had been pursuing the victim for 18 days.
The victim, Amit Verma, worked as a veterinarian at a dog clinic in Vaishali and lived at a house adjacent to the clinic. Deepak, the doctor’s roommate said that the woman sneaked into the house in morning and threw acid on his face. “Since the clinic’s door was open, she sneaked into the living room and threw acid on Amit’s face. She immediately fled while Amit kept shouting in pain. I took him to a private hospital nearby and immediately informed the police,” said Deepak.
The victim is admitted to Yashoda hospital in Kaushambhi and has sustained 40% burns on his face, chest, abdomen and arms. According to his roommate, the doctor had a close relationship with his landlady (the accused) in Meerut. She was not happy with him moving to Ghaziabad. In the last 18 days, since he moved to Ghaziabad, the woman had met him thrice.
When Deepak, who was taking a shower when the incident happened, asked Verma who did it he could barely utter ‘aunty’. “I realised that it is the same landlady who had been after him,” said the roommate.
Police has recovered a ladies purse, an ID card and a dupatta from the room. All the items belong to another woman whom Amit is supposedly dating. Police is suspecting that the accused woman left the items deliberately to implicate the other woman.
Police has not received any complaint from the victim as he is not in the state but once his condition improves, his statement will be recorded. Indirapuram SHO, Gorakhnath Yadav said that the phone records of the woman show that she called the victim more than 100 times since Saturday.
