Journalist burnt alive: Sole witness takes a U-turn

The case of a mofussil journalist being burnt to death in Shahjahanpur district of UP has taken a U-turn as a woman friend a of the deceased and the sole witness in the case has testified that he had immolated himself when the police raided his house in connection with an old case.

In her statement recorded before a magistrate, the woman has admitted that she was present in Jagendra’s house when the incident happened. The witness account could turn the story hitherto base over apex.
Till now, it had been reported that Jagendra had been set on fire, allegedly by policemen at the behest of Minister of State Ram Murti Singh Verma, who belongs to Shahjahanpur. The journalist’s murder was said to have been instigated due to his writings against the minister on Facebook.
