It appears that inspite of the efforts made by all party delegation to resolve the issue created by local separatist by holding people at ransom and forcing them to carry out various unlawful activities resulting in deaths and injury to the people, those people are treating it their victory. They are prolonging it feeling that Govt. will budge to their demands as one of their leaders has said that they are very near to their goal of achieving freedom.. It is very evident that there are only a handful of such people who are keeping majority of innocent Kashmiris at ransom and showing as if the Govt. and agencies are culprits. It is surprising that the Govt. agencies have not been able to find out as to who are such persons who are creating in the minds of people awe which forces them to follow their instructions. It is very evident that there are only a handful of such people. It needs to be investigated who is funding them and how that money is allowed to reach them. Who are the persons whom they interact with and how. A very strict vigilance needs to be kept on such persons and their contacts need to be cut so that they are not able to create any fear in the minds of peace loving people.

How is it that they impose “ bandh” (Closure), and all follow them. Though It is nothing new as it is happening for years together but the pity is that no one has bothered to trace as to who instigate them and what forces innocent people to follow their orders. If this link is broken the innocent people will be free to do as they wish. They keep on extending the date of “ Bandh “ and people blindly follow that and carry out their unlawful acts resulting in deaths and injuries, besides great loss in business. Govt. is forced to clamp curfew and take measures against the culprits. Why cannot they stop their ‘bandh’ so that Govt. may remove curfew etc. and markets may open. They are not specified as to what they wish Govt. to do except that Govt. should apply some soothing balm to heal their wounds. Unless they specify what exactly they expect Govt. to do, no solutions can be found. They should come out and have talks with the Govt. expressing their demands and actions desired. The State Govt. should carry out such exercise to close this long chapter.

There is no doubt that the separatists are in close league with Pakistani agents and are supplying them data to enable them either to intrude into India or Plan attacks on vulnerable points. Since they have already pointed out their intention and their leaders in Pakistan have issued statements to that effect that they are sending terrorists to create unrest and disharmony in areas in India which are prone to such activities. It thus becomes essential that the Govt. takes a strong action against the local separatist leaders and also keep a strict vigil on all vulnerable points from where they are likely to intrude or attack on posts. As already emphasized Govt. must install remote firing guns, recently developed in the country, at vulnerable points along the border and strengthen the squads there so that those are not allowed to enter India and who so ever tries to intrude are killed then and there, before they carry out any attacks unawares, killing people.
Though Army has nothing to do with in keeping peace of the town but has a big role to play in eliminating terrorists who try to intrude or attack border posts. Ex-servicemen are happy that the Army Chief has visited Kashmir and has taken measures to strengthen the defence of the country, keeping in view the threats being made by the terrorists.
