Kedarnath Temple Implements Photography Ban and Dress Code for Pilgrims

New Delhi, July 17, 2023: The Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has taken a significant step to preserve the sanctity of the Kedarnath Temple by imposing a strict prohibition on photography and videography within its premises. Warning signs and boards have been prominently displayed, cautioning visitors against using mobile phones or recording devices, with CCTV cameras monitoring compliance. Legal action will be taken against those who violate this ban.

In response to past incidents of inappropriate behavior within the temple, the committee has also urged all pilgrims to dress modestly while visiting the sacred Kedarnath Dham. Earlier this month, the committee wrote to the Kedarnath Dham Police, urging a ban on creating videos and reels around the temple area. This request came after a viral video showing a girl proposing to her boyfriend near the temple sparked a debate among internet users. The committee expressed concerns about the potential negative effects of such content on the temple’s sacredness and requested the police to closely monitor the temple surroundings and take appropriate action against those responsible for creating such videos.
