New Delhi, 5 May 2022: The Delhi Cabinet has passed the Delhi Start-Up policy to encourage the young minds to start their own businesses, said Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi CM on Thursday

“The youth are the future of the country, however the education system and the politics of today has rendered them helpless and unemployed. They are intelligent, capable and hardworking, therefore, several steps have been taken to create a financially-sound and business-driven city,” he adds.

The Delhi schools have started entrepreneurship classes from class 9 to 12. Students will be given a seed capital to teach them how to operate a business, i.e., a business blaster programme. In today’s time, students have started doing small business in their colleges itself, Kejriwal said. “After their graduation, instead of jobs, they will be made capable enough to start their own businesses and the Delhi government assures help to these students.”

“The government will constitute a 20-people taskforce (involving a government officer, 10% academic-related officials and 85% professionals), students who want to avail the policy will have to apply to the taskforce. They will then decided if the candidate should be registered or not,” Delhi CM adds.

The state government has assured that they will handhold these startups by proving monetary and non-monetary incentives. For example, a portion of the office rent and income to the employees will be given by them, copyright fees and internet fees will be returned, collateral- and interest-free loans and so on.

An agency will also be formed with professionals where the students can go asking for help in their businesses. If a student goes to the accountants agency for help, the help will be free and they will be guided by the experts. They can ask for help on how to file GST, ask for loans, look for approvals and copyrights.

Apart from this, a portion of all the resources procured by the state government will be allocated for these startups. With a hope to see Delhi booming with startups and the youth starting big companies, Delhi CM has announced a 2-year break from studies for students who undertake startups in their schools and college periods.

“Creating entrepreneurs and business leaders out of our youth is a subject very close to my heart. Our youth has tremendous potential. Given right opportunities, they can compete with anyone in the world. Not just India, we will see Delhi become the startup destination of the world,” Kejriwal mentions.
