NEW DELHI (30/11/2019) : Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Chopra, former Delhi Urban Development Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma, at a joint press conference today demanded that Para 7A in Section 7 of the notification, issued on 19 November, 2019 regarding the regularization of unauthorized colonies, should be withdrawn forthwith.

They said that both the Modi Government at the Centre and the Kejriwal Government in Delhi were deliberately delaying the regularization and Registry of unauthorized colonies, proffering various excuses, which will affect the lives of over 40 lakh people in Delhi. They said that both the Modi and Kejriwal Governments were betraying 40 lakh people living in unauthorized colonies by hanging the sword of demolition over their heads.

Subhash Chopra said that the Modi and Kejriwal Governments nullified the notification issued by the Congress Government and came out with a new notification only to delay and prevent the regularization of unauthorized colonies.

Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today, Subhash Chopra slammed both the Modi and Kejriwal Governments in Delhi for deliberately betraying over 40 lakh people living in the unauthorized colonies.

Subhash Chopra repeated his charge that over 40 per cent of unauthorized colonies in Delhi will not come under the purview of regularization and Registry, and the Congress will not allow the demolition of these colonies which was the intent of the Modi and Kejriwal Governments.

He said that it was for the first time that Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Puri has not tabled the list of unauthorized colonies in Parliament. He said that by not tabling the list in the House, it has become all too evident that BJP was already feeling guilty that if the list is tabled in Parliament, the people of Delhi will not allow them to sit idle.

Chopra asserted that the Congress party will not allow any other policy other than the one applied by the Congress when Indira Gandhi’s Government regularized unauthorized colonies in 1976-77.

Arvinder Singh Lovely, taking pot shots at Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, said that the present condition of the unauthorized colonies was like an old saying: “Har Sakh Pe Ulloo Baitha Hai, Anjame Gulista Kya Hoga”.

Lovely criticized Kejriwal for his statement that the Delhi Government had already recommended to the Union Government for the regularization of these unauthorized colonies, which was a big lie. He authenticated with documents that when Kejriwal was the Chief Minister for 49 days in Delhi, a decision was taken by his Government that the “Revenue Department shall take up the work of fixation of boundaries”.

Lovely said that BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri and the BJP leaders were only rubbing salts into the wounds of the people living in unauthorized colonies when they distributed sweets without realizing that the sword of demolition was hanging over colonies like Tuglakkabad and Sangam Vihar.
