Kerala, Sept 28th, 2022: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday dismissed a PIL that sought to regulate Congress’ ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra in the state that has allegedly been causing roadblocks and traffic jams.
The petitioner alleged that the yatra has been causing roadblocks and traffic jams and approached the state government to divert traffic and create space.
A bench led by Chief Justice S Manikumar and Justice Shaji P Chaly rejected the PIL after the state government ensured that the foot march was going on peacefully.
In view of state’s submission, the court said that the petitioner was unable to prove his allegation that the march was causing traffic jams.
The state government further added that the police have been instructed to ensure the smooth and peaceful movement of the yatra.
The Public Interest Litigation(PIL) was filed last week by an advocate, Vijayan K.
