Kumar Sanu’s heartfelt tribute to R.D. Burman on his 87th birth anniversary: Your music is timeless
Mumbai, June 27 (IANS) Singer and composer Kumar Sanu paid a heartfelt tribute to legend R.D. Burman on his 87th birth anniversary on Saturday.
Kumar Sanu took to his official Instagram handle and published a throwback picture with Pancham Da.
He shared that one of the treasured blessings of his life has been to sing under the guidance of R.D. Burman.
“On his birth anniversary, we remember the greatest maestro, Pancham Da, with deep emotion (Folded hands emoji). Lucky enough to sing under his inspired guidance has been one of the most treasured blessings in my life. Your music is timeless; Pancham Da, you will forever live on in our hearts and memories. (Red heart emoji),” his heartfelt note for R.D Burman read.
Along with Kumar Sanu, playback singer Shaan also decided to offer a musical tribute to R.D. Burman on his birth anniversary by singing his timeless classic ‘Rimjhim Gire Saawan’.
Shaan uploaded a video on his official Instagram handle where he can be seen crooning the melodious number in the comfort of his home. Posing in a breezy yellow T-shirt, Shaan was seen enjoying the monsoon weather.
He was heard saying in his latest social media post, “It’s beautiful, gloomy, monsoon weather. And on account of Pancham Da’s birthday, here’s a little tribute.” After this, he breaks into a soulful rendition of “Rimjhim Gire Saawan”.
During a glorious career spanning around three decades, Pancham Da is credited with composing tracks for more than 300 films, including some classics like ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne’, ‘Mehbooba Mehbooba’, ‘Dum Maro Dum’, ‘Yeh Shaam Mastani’, ‘Musafir Hoon Yaaron’, and ‘Tere Bina Zindagi Se’.
Talking about his personal life, R.D. Burman was married to legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle.
R.D. Burman passed away on January 4, 1994, at the age of 54.
