“1st Thought Leadership Award, 2016”

New Delhi, March 15, 2016: La Trobe University is a multi-campus university in Victoria, Australia and has been one of Australia’s pioneering universities for nearly 50 years. The University encourages students and staff to gain international experience and develop a curriculum and research programs of International Standards.
To that end, the “Thought Leadership Award” was launched by La Trobe Vice-Chancellor Professor John Dewar,in October 2015 during his visit to India.
The award is run by La Trobe International and aims to recognise outstanding students from across India’s secondary school system whose ideas and talents show remarkable thought leadership potential.
The initiative has fostered strong partnerships between La Trobe andschoolsacross India and will be held every year.Given its success the University is looking to expand the competition in Sri Lanka later this year.
Sixteen students from eight schools in Northern India participated in the award. Theywere asked to write an essay on any one of La Trobe University’s key focus areas which look at the pressing challenges facing society and the world today.

· Building Healthy Communities
· Securing Food, Water, and the Environment
· Sport, Exercise, and Rehabilitation
· Understanding Disease and finding the Cure
· Transforming Human Societies

It was a tight and talented field of candidates and the competition was a resounding success. The Directors of La Trobe’s five Research focus areas and La Trobe International chose the winners listed below:-
