Landlord’s Son Arrested For Repeatedly Raping Tenant’s 7-year-old Daughter

Ghaziabad Police have arrested a 22-year-old boy for allegedly raping the seven-year-old daughter of his tenant. The girl was raped several times in the past couple of weeks by the son of the house-owner, who had rented out the accommodation to the victim’s family. The accused is under police custody and an FIR has been registered against him. The incident occurred on February 26 in Vrindavan Garden residential colony, when the house owner, Mohit Singh’s son lured the child to an abandoned room on the ground floor of the house and raped her. The accused warned the girl of dire consequences if she informed about it to anyone. The victim somehow gathered courage and told her mother about the incident. However, the police registered an FIR on Thursday under Sahibabad police station in Ghaziabad, on the fourth day after the incident. Sushma, the mother of the victim, said: “My husband and I stay with our three children in a rented accommodation in Singh’s house. We originally hail from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh. We made a police complaint soon after my daughter informed me about the incident. The culprit had already raped my daughter several times before she informed us. The police refused to register an FIR but after putting more pressure on them, an FIR got registered against the culprit. By that time we were harassed and pressurised several times by the family of accused to not lodge any complaint. They also offered us money to stay quiet.” “The police registered the case under Sections 376, 506 of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The culprit has been arrested by the police while the victim has been sent for a medical examination,” said a police official investigating the case. “As we reached the district hospital in Ghaziabad to get the medical of my daughter done, the doctors said that the offence was falling under IPC Section 377 and refused to perform the medical as such was not mentioned in the FIR but after the couple’s hours of wait and assurance by a police officer, the doctors took my child for medical. Reports are awaited,” added Shushma.
