The Speaker also appreciated the efforts of Kartikeya Sharma, Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, for initiating and leading the NXT Conclave. According to Birla, the forum is gaining prominence as a space where policymakers, parliamentarians, and global thought leaders can collectively deliberate on emerging issues affecting governance, technology, and international cooperation.
Highlighting India’s democratic traditions, Birla said that India, the world’s largest democracy, is widely recognized as the “Mother of Democracy” because of its long-standing culture of dialogue, consensus-building, and participatory governance. He noted that the Indian Parliament reflects the hopes, aspirations, and diversity of nearly 1.4 billion citizens, and policies are formulated through extensive debate and discussion representing varied viewpoints.

He pointed out that initiatives like technology-enabled governance, direct benefit transfer systems, and the expansion of digital platforms have significantly enhanced transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public administration.
The Speaker also referred to efforts being made to modernize parliamentary functioning through the use of emerging technologies. He highlighted initiatives such as Digital Sansad, advanced parliamentary research tools, and modern information systems aimed at making legislative processes more transparent and efficient.
Underscoring the growing importance of parliamentary diplomacy, Birla said that the Indian Parliament has recently formed more than 60 Parliamentary Friendship Groups to promote closer engagement and collaboration with legislatures across the world.
Encouraging deeper international cooperation among lawmakers, he stressed the importance of sharing knowledge, ideas, and best practices to strengthen democratic institutions globally. Birla expressed confidence that the discussions and exchanges taking place during the conclave would contribute to stronger democratic partnerships and enhanced global cooperation.
The NXT Conclave 2026, currently being held in New Delhi, has brought together parliamentarians, policymakers, industry leaders, and global experts to deliberate on critical issues related to governance, technological innovation, and international collaboration in an increasingly interconnected world.
