Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), the organization of traders on Friday in New Delhi Condemned The ongoing sealing drive, being carried out under the supervision of Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee.

Earlier, The Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee in a meeting with civic agencies decided that the shop owners who do not pay the revised conversion charges for the use of residential property for commercial purposes till December 31, will face sealing action. In South Delhi Municipal Corporation sealed around 50 shops in marble market for misuse of agriculture land for running commercial activity and The North Delhi Municipal Corporation officials re-sealed 243 shops in Rajapuri market near rohini, which were sealed in 2007.

Agitated traders collectively  blamed the monitoring committee for being “biased in their action” and asked to shut down all grey areas in delhi. One of the trader running a marble unit in area said, “First the BJP destroyed our  business through demonetisation, then their back was broken by the GST and now they are helping big businessmen. If the monitoring committee is so concerned about the misuse of agricultural land for commercial purpose then why are they targeting only traders running marble units on this 100-foot wide road. Starting from Chattarpur Metro Station, all the commercial units are illegal here and are operating on agricultural land.”

The Traders further opposed the dictating attitude of the MCD and monitoring committee and blamed BJP government for destroying  small businessmen through MCD.
