Maharashtra, Dec 21, 2022: Amid the intensifying border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on has alleged Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai of igniting a fire in the matter and further warned they will enter the adjoining state just like “China has entered India”.
While speaking to the media, Raut stressed that the border issue between both states is seven decades old and Maharastra wants to solve the problem through dialogue and discussion.
However, he issued a warning that if Karnataka CM ignites the matter, they will be compelled to enter the state in a forceful manner like “China has entered India.” Also, he criticised the newly formed Eknath Shinde-led government and termed it a “weak administrator” as it failed to solve the issue.
Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar had brought up the issue of the border dispute earlier in the Assembly and expressed, “A Lok Sabha member from Maharashtra has been stopped from entering Belgaum. In a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah it was decided that no one would be stopped from entering there, then how can the collector there take such a decision.”
Responding to Pawar, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “For the first time the Home Minister of the country mediated the border issue, he has taken this dispute seriously, we have presented the side of the border residents to him, Amit Shah has expressed his point in front of the border dispute, now there should be no politics surrounding the border dispute, we should stand in solidarity with the border residents.”
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis agreed with CM Shinde’s remarks and further expressed that the government will look into the matter.
