New Delhi (India), May 2, 2023: Renowned socio-political activist and author, Arun Gandhi, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 89 in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, following a brief illness, according to family sources. Arun Gandhi was the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and was known for following in his grandfather’s footsteps as an advocate of peace and non-violence.
Born in Durban on April 14, 1934, to Manilal Gandhi and Sushila Mashruwala, Arun Gandhi dedicated his life to spreading his grandfather’s message of peace and harmony. He authored several books, including “The Gift of Anger” and “Legacy of Love,” which inspired many to adopt Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings and philosophy.
The funeral of the revered activist and author will be held later today in Kolhapur, as confirmed by his son Tushar Gandhi. The passing of Arun Gandhi marks a significant loss to the world of social activism and serves as a reminder of the importance of carrying forward Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy of peace and non-violence.
