New Delhi (India), April 22, 2023: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has expressed her strong opposition to the politics of hate and attempts to divide the nation. Addressing a congregation for Eid namaz at Kolkata’s Red Road, she urged people to unite against the right-wing BJP party and ensure their defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Banerjee accused certain groups of trying to divide the country and practice politics of hate, declaring that she is prepared to give her life to prevent any division in the country. She also condemned attempts to change the constitution and implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in West Bengal.

Banerjee affirmed that existing citizenship records and acts were sufficient and that the NRC and Citizen’s Amendment Act, which confer citizenship rights on minorities from neighboring countries, were not needed.

Banerjee, whose party has faced criticism for corruption and political violence, vowed to fight the money power of her political opponents and the central agencies, which she alleges have been unleashed on TMC with a political motive. She expressed her determination to stand strong and not bow her head.

Highlighting the upcoming national elections in 2024, Banerjee called on the people to unite and vote against divisive forces. She emphasized the importance of protecting democracy and urged the people to come together to ensure a strong and united India.

“In one year’s time, elections will be held to decide who will come to power in our country. Let us promise that we will unite and fight against divisive forces. We must ensure that all of us together vote them out in the next polls. If we fail to protect democracy, then everything will be finished,” Banerjee said.
