New Delhi (India), 11th May 2023: In its 240-year history, Man Group Plc has appointed its first female chief executive officer.
Robyn Grew, 54, will take over from Luke Ellis, 60, who is venturing down from the steerage of the world’s biggest openly recorded hedge fund firm on Sept. 1, as indicated by an explanation Thursday.
Grew, who joined Man Group in 2009 and currently serves as its president, will relocate to the UK for the position, but will continue to spend a significant amount of her time in the United States.
The choice follows the company’s arrangement of Anne Wade as its first female Chairman to succeed John Cryan, who is resigning towards the end of 2023, as per a notification issued in February.
According to a report published in March by Preqin, women make up only 21.3% of employees at the thousands of hedge funds and other alternative investment firms worldwide. They just possess 13.6% of senior jobs and the extent of female board individuals is lower still, at 10.3%.
James Man established Man Group in 1783 as a barrel maker and broker on Harp Lane, approximately 500 meters from its current London office along the Thames. It traded coffee and sugar as well as rum with the Royal Navy over the next two centuries before eventually focusing solely on financial services and becoming the biggest Hedge Fund firm in the world.
