New Delhi (India), 30th April 2023: On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at the historic 100th episode of his radio programme Mann Ki Baat. Mann Ki Baat, according to PM Modi, “gave me a solution to connect with people; it’s not just a programme to me; it’s faith, a spiritual journey.”

He went on to say that the radio show has evolved into a festival honouring India’s positivity and people. The Prime Minister stated that whether it was ‘Swachh Bharat,’ ‘Khadi,’ or ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ problems mentioned in Mann ki Baat became public movements.

The 30-minute episode struck a good balance between looking back and moving forward, with the Prime Minister interviewing some of the change-makers he referenced in previous episodes from across the country.

Sunil Jaglan of Haryana, who launched the ‘Selfie with Daughter’ campaign in the state with a skewed sex ratio, was the first to join the PM on the show over a telephonic call.

Subsequently, Vijayashanti Devi of Manipur, who creates clothing from lotus fibre, said she now has a team of 30 and plans to expand to 100 women this year, as well as sell the eco-friendly fibre to the United States. PM Modi praised Vocal for Local, which is now becoming Local for Global.

Pradeep Sangwan, who oversees the ‘Healing Himalayas’ cleanliness initiative, also spoke about his efforts.

In an emotional statement, the Prime Minister stated that the programme has never kept him away from the people of the country, especially since his arrival in Delhi.

PM Modi also praised the show’s worldwide reach. While he mentioned in the first few minutes that US President Barack Obama had participated in one of the episodes back in 2015, the 100th episode featured UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay, who asked how India plans to achieve the goal of education for all by 2030, despite having the world’s largest population.

The programme, which debuted on October 3, 2014, has been essential in assisting the Prime Minister in interacting with Indian residents and addressing a variety of topics.
