Marginal growth in Handicrafts Exports in FY 20-21 despite Covid woes: EPCH

New Delhi – 30th September, 2021 – The 35th Annual General Meeting [AGM] of the Export Promotion Council was held today at New Delhi. Rajkumar Malhotra, Chairman – EPCH, while addressing the AGM, informed that despite the entire financial year being affected by COVID pandemic, the Exports of handicrafts during the period amounted to Rs.25,680 crores registering a marginal growth of 1.62%. During the year 2020-21, the Council has undertaken multifarious activities relating to development and promotion of handicrafts from the country in addition to enabling exporting community to perform better in the world market.  EPCH has reached out to its members and overseas buyers through various virtual fairs/BSMs and also organized various Webinars & Panel Discussions, one day Workshops/seminars, Audio/Video and in person seminars by professionals/ experts in various fields.

One of the agenda of 35th AGM was Election of members of Committee of Administration (CoA). Six members of CoA were elected – Dr. Bharat Dinesh, Prince Malik, Ravinder Kumar Passi from Northern Region, Dileep Baid from North West Region, Jesmina Zeliang from North East Region and K. L. Ramesh from Southern Region, said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.

The Handicrafts exports during the Five months of current financial year from April to August, 2021-22 is Rs. 12,342.66 crores registering a growth of over 71.77% over the same period in last year.

A large number of exporters from other states were present during the Annual General Meeting.
