India’s  Expo Mart

The exercise to identify various steps to promote and make India’s  Expo Mart the ultimate sourcing destination,  Mart Promotion Bureau, under the stewardship of the Newly elected dynamic chairman Sh Rakesh Kumar,  has been constituted .  The bureau will have five working groups with moderators for each group headed by a chief moderator, 4 joint moderators and 9 moderators with defined mandates. These five  groups have been named as

  • Working Group on Volume Retail and e-commerce (nextgen working group)
  • Working Group for Cash and Carry
  • Working Group on Mart Promotion
  • Working Group on Brand Promotion
  • Working group on Support Services

 

Together they will chart out and execute the road map for mart promotion.

 

The main purpose of creation of Mart Promotion Bureau is that Mart is occupied throughout year, each and every activity is properly managed with a fruitful result and to introduce new initiatives such as introduction of e-commerce amongst the mart owners, branding of Mart by participation in International & domestic fairs being participated by EPCH.

 

The bureau held its first meeting on January 12. The meeting was attended by more than 90 mart owners representing all  floors and from Delhi NCR, Moradabad, Meerut,  Jaipur, Bombay,Calcutta, Banaras, Saharanpur and Jodhpur. Those mart owners who could not make it sent their suggestions by email to the Chairman.

 

The prominent mart owners who attended the meeting are Mr.Abdul Azim,(Visba Moradabad) Mr Ajay Gupta (Paragon, Moradabad), Mr Rajan Aggarwal (Rajan Overseas, Moradabad) Mr shahnawaz Khan (Galaxy Exports, Moradabad) Mr Mohit Chopra (Chopramusical, Meerut) Mr Ravinder Miglani (Miglani Exports, Saharanpur) Mr. Alok Goel ( Neha Export House) Mr. Anil Poddar (Exotic Pods Creations Jaipur) Mr. Bharat Deep Vadhara (Ethnic Overseas Greater Noida) Mr. C. P. Sharma (Garud Fab Noida) Mr. Tosak Vaid (Mahajan Carpets) Mr. O. P. Prahladaka (Hitachi, Calcutta) Mr. Prince Malik (Osyrus) Mr. P.N. Suri (Hansa) Mr. R.K. Malhotrra (Ashian Handicrafts, Mr. Rajiv Sirohi (Shara) MR. Suneer Jain ( Jayanita) Mr. Sanjay Jain (Riyash Exports) Mr. Lekhraj Maheswari (Rajasthan Handloom Jaipur) Mr. Mohd Mansoor Ansari (Indian Weaves Banaras) and others.

 

 

A Road Map was adopted based on the suggestions received from the mart owners. Some of the salient features of Road Map that will be immediately taken up for action before or by February this year  are

  • All non operational marts will be offered on rent to exhibitors through IEML/EPCH for allotment to non mart owner exporters .

 

  • An android based application and a up-to-date website both giving details of all marts and links to their websites as well as email.

 

  • IEML will assist mart owners in window dressing of their marts by employing Designers.

 

  • Common fair directory with EPCH

 

  • The registration counter outside mart entrance will be restored for EPCH February event as was in last February fair in 2014.

 

  • 3rd floor Buyers lounge in the Mart area will be fully activated

 

  • A regular newsletter has already started and will be circulated as e newsletter as well as hard copy among all mart owners

 

  • All the isles of the mart area will be utilized for theme displays during the EPCH February fair

 

 

It was also resolved at the meeting that there would be Collective responsibility of  all members of the mart promotion bureau  to ensure that all mart owners agree to all the recommendations of the working groups. The working groups also agreed to an annual calendar of events which will eventually peak to  76 days of exclusive mart events and other days of overlapping with EPCH events and other events happening at the Expo Mart halls.

 

Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman, India Expo Centre & Mart is hopeful that with the active participation of mart owners, the Mart Promotion Bureau will be able to create huge brand image of the India Expo Centre & Mart not only in domestic but as well as on International level.
