Maruti Suzuki sells record 1 million S-CNG vehicles cumulatively

New Delhi (15/03/2022): Maruti Suzuki India Limited S-CNG vehicles have clocked sales of 1 million units cumulatively. Strengthening its commitment towards offering environment-friendly mobility solutions, Maruti Suzuki today offers the largest portfolio of 9 S-CNG vehicles in the personal and commercial segment. These include Alto, S-Presso, WagonR, Celerio, Dzire, Ertiga, Eeco, Super Carry and Tour-S.

Thanking customers for supporting Maruti Suzuki S-CNG cars, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “We are humbled by the appreciation and positive response received by our S-CNG offerings. As a Company, our aim is to

offer safe, reliable, clean, technologically advanced and environment friendly vehicles to our customers. Our S-CNG range is specifically designed, developed and manufactured at our facilities to suit the Indian driving conditions.”

He added, “Today, there are already over 3,700 CNG stations making CNG more accessible to people. With Government’s target to reach 10,000 CNG stations across the country in the next few years, we expect the demand for CNG vehicles to remain robust. As a technology, CNG will play a bigger and significant role in reducing carbon emission of a large volume of passenger vehicles.”

Maruti Suzuki S-CNG technology has played a significant role in laying the groundwork for democratising CNG technology in the Indian automotive space. Since 2010, the Company has systematically addressed legacy concerns associated with CNG vehicles for safety and performance.

S-CNG – Smart Performance:

The Maruti Suzuki S-CNG range of vehicles offer optimum performance with superior fuel efficiency and are equipped with:

  1. Dual Interdependent ECUs with Intelligent Injection system that seamlessly communicate with each other to provide an optimal air-fuel ratio during combustion
  2. Re-tuned chassis suspension & braking system for all kinds of terrains
  3. Common rail based CNG injection system ensures optimal CNG fuel injection pressure and distribution

S-CNG – Smart Safety:

The Maruti Suzuki factory-fitted S-CNG vehicles compared with other CNG options in the market offer complete peace with smart safety features like:

  1. Microswitch that ensures that the vehicle is off and doesn’t start while refuelling
  2. Stainless steel CNG pipes with patented ferrule joints that provides corrosion resistance and a leak-proof design
  3. Advanced dual solenoid system ensures additional safety in case of gas leakage. It auto-cuts fuel during the gas leak and releases high-pressure CNG directly into the atmosphere
  4. Non-return valve mechanism prevents backflow of high-pressure CNG gas and eliminates chances of any leakage
  5. CNG filler filter protects the CNG system from corrosion & dust particles, thus ensuring longer durability
  6. Petrol mode ignition ensures enhanced lubrication during cold start and prevents wear & tear of engine components
  7. Integrated electrical system/ Integrated harness eliminates chances of any short-circuits

S-CNG – Smart Convenience:

  1. Auto change-over switch instantly switches between CNG and Petrol modes
  2. The NGV receptacle special nozzle assists in faster and safer CNG refuelling

Maruti Suzuki’s efforts to popularize the adoption of S-CNG vehicles are aligned with the Government of India’s objective of reduction in oil imports by enhancing the share of natural gas in the energy basket of the country from 6.2% presently to 15% by 2030.
