Metro to run extra trips on Rakshabandhan

This weekend, Delhi Metro is going to run over 600 extra train trips—a first for the transport agency. As part of its efforts to tackle the extra rush of commuters, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will run 190 more trips on the day before Rakshabandhan and 419 extra trips on the day, which is a Sunday.

DMRC will also deploy additional staff to cater to people and handle increased load on its resources. “Delhi Metro has decided to run over 190 extra train trips on August 9 and 419 extra trips on August 10 and will deploy additional personnel to cater to the extra rush of commuters expected on these two days,” DMRC spokesman Anuj Dayal said. This decision was taken in view of high ridership observed by Delhi Metro on the eve of Rakshabandhan and the day itself for the past few years, Dayal said.
