Miley Cyrus shares how Dolly Parton helped her overcome ‘devastation, grief’

Mumbai, Sep 23 (IANS) Popstar Miley Cyrus revealed that country music icon and godmother Dolly Parton has helped her to overcome the “devastation and grief” during the most difficult moments in her life.

Cyrus said: “During the fires, when there was so much devastation and grief, in those moments I always thought of Dolly Parton. Through her music and her gift for making people happy, she’s always been medicinal in those times.”

“She always tells me that moments of trauma aren’t times to shut down or give up as entertainers. It’s our duty – one of the reasons we chose this calling – to be a source of joy and inspiration during moments of trouble,” Cyrus told Pamela Anderson for CR Fashion Book.

The “Flowers” hitmaker went on to add: “Of course, it’s sensitive. There’s a balance, and even some controversy, in how people feel you should respond in times like that. But I think the way we showed up reflected who we are as artists.”

Meanwhile, Cyrus also confessed that she’s “not a very consistent person”, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The pop star actually wishes she could be more consistent in her decision-making.

Cyrus, who was married to movie star Liam Hemsworth between 2018 and 2020, said: “I’m not a very consistent person. I’ve always admired people, even been a little jealous of those who have the art of consistency, because I don’t have it. Some people are just born with such a strong sense of self and identity.”

“I had all the confidence in the world, but none of the constants. So I wanted to look at that as something beautiful instead of something I needed to change about myself.”

She added: “Sometimes, when I listen to my music, it might sound confused, but to me there’s actually a sense of knowing in it through the lack of attachment I have to one sound or genre. Whatever I feel in that moment comes alive, and it can die on the next song.”
